Conform to the degree that it is necessary (except when it goes against the freedom we have in Jesus) but never be fooled into thinking that conformity is what God is after.
Conformity works through compulsion...by someone's exercise of power and fear.
Harmony is about freedom and it comes only by way of Father's love.

Kent, I love what you wrote here. It is part of what triggered my blog post today.
Tina, this realization a few years ago was a big part of the beginning of everything changing. It set in motion several months of a repentance I had never known.
I was a year into it before I even realized that it had been about repentance because it had not been about me feeling remorseful and sorry. It was a period of turning from the way I had always thought about things and in turn lived and learning to live a differnt way. Repentance is about responding to an invitation to turn from the way we have been going and deciding to go another way.
The things I had valued and praised and sought after for myself and others were revealed to be something other than I had thought they were. I began to see conformity as being the opposite side of the same coin as rebellion. Neither one of them has anything to do with freedom.
I feel like I am also in a period of repentance, though I would not have considered that without reading your above comment. Why do we automatically believe that repentance must involve tears of remorse and a thousand apologies? I am normally very hard on myself, but I know that what I lived yesterday was a product of all that I understood. I live today out of what Father has revealed to me.

I never thought of it that way!! You always challenge me and I am grateful.
