Over the past few years I have watched very little TV. The past month I have had it on a bit more having been a little bit interested (not really) in at least hearing what the so called Economic "Experts" were saying about the world's economic woes. Here's what has been so apparent to me. Every thing that humanity faces seems to have a corresponding system involved. All the focus is on systems and not on people. Just listen from that perspective if you are watching any of this on TV or even listening to people on the street.
The preoccupation with systematic approaches to fix the systemic problems humanity faces is wasted energy. As well intentioned as it might be....it's still wasted energy.
Love is the only thing that can turn this around.....all that has been lost can be found. But I don't think both are going to survive. Systems win....and humans lose or humans win and systems lose.
The Creator of all things overwhelmingly tips the scale in the direction of this being about his people (our neighbor) and being very opposed to the things that enslave his people and his creation. That at least to me seems to indicate that the odds are overwhelmingly set against the systems most humans seem to be preoccupied with....well preoccupied with at least today.
I long for and wait patiently for a turning.

a BIG FAT amenski!
Rob watching all of this unfold has just been stunning to me. The "Experts" that run systems into the ground (and hurt people)and the "Experts" that are reporting to the people as they are watching the other "Experts" run it into the ground seem to have placed everyone under their powerful spell.
But when you think about it a bit further it seems to me that the "Experts" are under the same spell also, so maybe they aren't the ones responsible for the spell in the first place? ;-)They are prey to the system also.
Kent,
"Every thing that humanity faces seems to have a corresponding system involved. All the focus is on systems and not on people."
I couldn't agree more. Ever since leaving and divorcing Religion, it's been so life-altering (in SUCH a good way), how Papa has been showing me, also, how everything that has been destructive in whatever sense has usually been the source of some type of system/institution.

Amen. In essence, Systems are really just a "type" of form of the Law. Love is God. Love is Grace. Grace overcame the Law. Thus, Law and Love cannot co-exist. Law is different than wisdom. Father gives us wisdom (the heart of understanding the rules which He gave Moses are to help us, protect us from consequences of sin, and to also show us that we cannot save ourselves, only Christ can).

Amen. Father is all about freedom. All about being free from bondage, constrains, confinement of any sort: spiritual, emotional, financial, social, mental, physical. He delights when we are FREE and we live a life in the Reality of our Freedom and the Reality of His love. When one does so, one naturally does the things and lives the way Father delights (of course, we do make mistakes and sin at times, as we are human...but I am speaking in "overall" terms here).
Great post, Kent.
Blessings,

A big fat amenski from me, too.
The turning.
I dribble for the turning :)
Amy, that some good stuff you have shared also.
Sue.....we wait for the turning together
Kent,
I just wanted to tell you that I just today received, in the mail, Jacques Ellul's "Ethics of Freedom" I had purchased (used and for such a cheap rate) on the Amazon.com link you provided for me.
Wow! 510 pages...I certainly have my reading work cut out for me in the evenings (Hee hee!) and will certainly take me awhile to read it. However, that is okay. I have a very good feeling, from all your citations, that it will be well worth it.
Thanks again for the info and link.
Blessings,
~Amy :)
